On September 16, 2022, four year old Cole was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He spent a week at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin after his diagnosis to receive initial treatment. Treatment will continue for the next year and a half and involves multiple trips from Fredonia to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the MACC Center in Milwaukee. This fundraising event is an effort to offset the cost of travel and treatment not covered by insurance. The fundraiser is organized by the staff of the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District of which Cole’s mother Rose Janke has been a High School English Teacher for the last 14 years. The staff of Divine Savior Catholic School in Fredonia, is also participating in the organization of the fundraiser as Cole is currently enrolled in 4K there.
