Welcome to seventh grade social studies and seventh and eighth grade Spanish! I’m excited to be in my 16th year of teaching, all at Cedar Grove-Belgium Middle School. I have a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in elementary/middle level education. I also have a master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch University in instructional technology. Currently, I am working on earning my National Board Certification in early adolescence - social studies.
Throughout the school year, it is my goal to have the students think critically about a number of issues surrounding our society and world in my social studies class. The main areas that we cover are political science, geography, and economics. Students also will be examining current events and formulating opinions about current issues. Literacy in the content area is a large part of my class. I hope to get students thinking about how they fit into society and analyzing social studies topics for further understanding.
In my Spanish classes, my goal is to introduce the students to a foreign language as well as the culture of the various Spanish-speaking countries. As an enrichment/exploratory class, it is an opportunity for them to see if they would like to continue with Spanish in high school.
