  Art Education

This year 5th Grade Art

Students in grade 5 will be going to the birds this year. Their theme is birds. They will be learning basic art terms, reviewing color, value, line, shape, texture, form, and space. Learning to draw birds and reviewing value is the first project. Using this, students will transfer it to scratch paper and create a scratch art bird. A section on water color and design will follow in Bird of Paradise.

This year 6th Grade Art

Students reviewed shapes and shading in the first few weeks of school. Tying into their SOC St. students created Pharos head covering drawings and reviewed value. The next step was to use gold scratch paper and create the drawing of gold scratch paper creating a balance of black and gold. Continuing on students learned about the pop art culture and Andy Warhol. They used an apple as their inspiration. Students used the medium of tissue paper to crate a pleasing landscape. Having some fun students reviewed pinhole art as well. Students will be creating a wild life painting using acrylic paints. They will learn techniques in applying acrylic paints.
