I-43 Rehabilitation Project in Ozaukee County

Last week’s rain and the holiday work restrictions limited our closures.  Even with the rain, the I-43 diamond grinding project is still scheduled for completion around the middle of October. As for this week, the diamond grinding and crossover construction is still ongoing. You may notice new signage as asphalt shoulder work will begin later this week.

Our northbound I-43 to WIS 57 detour route using County W does have some flooding issues, so we will have a temporary detour in place. See below for this week’s closures and updated detour:

Traffic Impacts:

  • FULL CLOSURE – Northbound I-43 between Arrowhead Road to Pebble Beach Road will be closed nightly, Tuesday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and nightly, Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
    • Detour: Northbound I-43 will exit at WIS 60, take WIS 60 west to County W, follow County W north to WIS 32/Spring Street to County LL and follow County LL north to WIS 32/Sauk Trail Road back to northbound I-43
    • Updated Detour: Northbound I-43 traffic seeking WIS 57 should exit at WIS 60, take WIS 60 west to County W, follow County W north to WIS 33, take WIS 33 east to County LL, follow County LL north to County H north to WIS 57
  • Northbound and southbound I-43 between WIS 32/County V and northern Ozaukee County line will have daytime and nighttime single lane closures throughout the week.

With additional rain in the forecast, please be mindful of changing travel conditions and drive with caution at all times, never drive through standing water or around barriers and follow designated detour routes. Visit www.511wi.gov for up-to-date traffic impacts.
