CG-B Recreation Department Community

The response to our Recreation Department survey exceeded our expectations! I want to thank those of you who took time and provided valuable information as we move toward Fall 2018 and begin our initial programming. We anticipate having the program descriptions and registrations available in July. (and look to start in September)

Several individuals expressed an interest in teaching/facilitating a particular course, which will be invaluable to us. If you are interested in teaching a particular program, please take a moment and fill out the attached survey. I will touch base with you very shortly.

Featured Grade Level of the Month- 2nd Grade:

Featured Grade Level of the Month- 2nd Grade:  Spring is in the air in second grade!  Our study of the life cycle of insects is in full flight!  Students are learning about the different stages caterpillars go through in their journey to become butterflies and are always excited when a new one makes an appearance.  Our Painted Lady Butterflies will be released soon!  In writing, students are learning how to add dialogue and descriptive words in their stories.  “Painting” their story’s pictures with words helps students to connect to the writing process.  In reading, a study of character traits is the highlight in Reading Workshop student book clubs.  Digging into character traits, actions, responses, and interactions with other characters helps students build strong connection to the story and builds reading comprehension.  Warm recesses are also helping get a little extra energy out!
