The elementary school was the recent recipient of the Meemic For Our Schools grant. The elementary school was nominated for this award for their work in helping students achieve through a PIE (Prevention, Intervention, and Enrichment) model of academic support. With the school's winning nomination, elementary principal Mr. Jeff Kondrakieweicz will have access to $500 to use online at Office Depot for school supplies.
Congratulations to Principal Kondrakiewicz and the Elementary School Staff!
Second graders are making leaps and bounds in reading where the focus has turned to “same book” reading partners. Learning how to be accountable talkers, readers, questioners, and sharing information about books is a difficult skill to master! But our second graders are well on their way! Students have also been introduced to literary language and how it enriches a text. In science, building cooperative towers and studying the behaviors of solids and liquids is learning how the skill of observation helps scientists do their jobs. From non fiction writing, second graders turn now to opinion writing and in math, regrouping across three digits is the “big” skill to master. Counting money rounds out just a few of the critical math skills in 2nd grade.
